Serena Wilson - Nile-On
Serena Wilson started in the music business at London Records in 1998. Working with artists such as Goldie, All Saints and the Sugababes, as well as their offshoot label FFRR, she soon became assistant to the head of press. With the expansion of the internet in 1999 Serena left London Records to join Way to blue, an internet start up and began promoting acts including Björk, So Solid Crew, Madonna, Craig David and Travis. There she worked her way up to senior press officer.
In 2002 whilst at Way To Blue Serena was asked to join Source Records on a consultancy basis and set up an online division for the label. Whilst there she worked with Turin Brakes, Mark B and Blade, Metro Area, Air, Audio Bullies, Simian, Gemma Hayes and Kings of Convenience. Serena then moved on to the Virgin Records roster and worked with the likes of Beenie Man, Kelis, Nerd and Daft Punk.
As well as consulting for the Source label, Serena started up her own company, Nile-On, dedicated to Online Press and Promotions. The now infamous City Rockers, was one of Nile-On’s first clients followed by Duophonic (Stereo Lab) Warp records, Ministry Of Sound and The Anti Nazi League who launched the Love Music Hate Racism campaign aimed at bringing together a diverse selection of musicians, DJs and MC’s to follow in the footsteps of the Rock Against Racism movement of the 70’s.
Source Records merged with Virgin/EMI in 2003 and Nile-On expanded further. Together with Jamie Danan and Leda Whitely, who had both been at Beatwax promotions in 2001 before moving across to Nile-On, a steady roster of successful acts was built up that gave them the reputation of being at the cutting edge of UK independent music scene. Clients included Warp Records, Ultimate Dilemma, Reflex Records, Universal, Mute, Novamute, Island Records, Fat Cat, Groneland, Duophonic, UMTV, The Biography Channel, (Sky) Winchester Films, WarpFilms and Domino where Nile-On embarked on a campaign with the Arctic Monkeys that was to change the face of digital marketing within the music industy.
Since then the Nile-On has grown to a team of 7 web based consultants, marketers and pluggers, with offices in central London.

There are a vast amount of options available to any client who undertakes a digital promotion so the messaging and targets have to be clear from the start. As the internet becomes increasingly saturated through the migration from print media and TV to the internet it becomes ever more essential to achieve the creativity and quality of presence that the digital arena requires.
This will enable the campaign to reflect online what the consumer will experience from the venue in the real world. In order for this to happen the project will require a specialist team working on a campaign continually.
