Ingveldur Ýr - Portrett - Songstudio
This crossover album is the latest from the highly versatile and unique icelandic singer Ingveldur Ýr, accompanied by first class musicians from the Caput Sýrland session ensemble. Featuring classical, pop and musical theater and folk, it includes songs like Dream A Little Dream, the French waltz Les Chemins D'amour and Icelandic folksongs such as Vísur Vatnsenda-Rósu, as well as light, classical songs and arias such as Rusalka, Carmen, Ave Maria and Litanei.
Icelandic singer, Ingveldur Ýr Jónsdóttir has long been equally at home in all musical genres from opera and orchestral songs to cabaret and musical theater. She has created roles in world premieres of several 20th Century operas. Vocally her range extends across the mezzo and soprano repertoire and she has been cast in both categories. Engagements have included Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Bastille, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tanglewood Music Festival and Les Boréales, with conductors such as Seji Ozawa, Kent Nagano and Sir Neville Marriner.
She frequently performs with the Icelandic Opera and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, with whom she can be heard on the CD Hafis, a recording produced by the BIS recording company. Graduating with a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, Ingveldur Ýr had previously studied singing, acting and dance at the Vienna Conservatory.
