Icelandic singer, Ingveldur Ýr Jónsdóttir, is equally at home in all musical genres: opera, Lieder, orchestral songs, cabaret songs and musical theater. She has created roles in world premieres of several 20th Century operas. Vocally her range extends across the mezzo and soprano repertoire and she has been cast in both categories. Engagements have included Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Bastille, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tanglewood Music Festival and Les Boréales, with conductors such as Seji Ozawa, Kent Nagano and Sir Neville Marriner. She frequently performs with the Icelandic Opera and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, with whom she can be heard on the CD Hafis, a recording produced by the BIS recording company. She recently produced her own solo album Portrett-Ingveldur Yr singing crossover repertoire with the Caput Syrland Session Ensemble.

Graduating with a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, Ingveldur Ýr had previously studied singing, acting and dance at the Vienna Conservatory. She has completed Level Two of the Estill Voice Training.
