The band was formed in 2009. After a metamorphosis it ended up as an eleven piece band including a dub-master, organ, guitar, more guitar, heavy bass, percussion and bubblin' brass: trumpet, euphonium, saxophone, clarinet/melodica.
Playing concerts in Reykjavík, Ojba Rasta received critical acclaim.
The band released its debut album, also called Ojba Rasta recently. The songs have had success on the top 30 chart of RÚV's Channel 2 radio station, reaching all the way to the top of the list with the song Baldursbrá (Daffodil). Jolly Good was track of the June 2011 issue of Reykjavik Grapevine.
