Tony The Pony hail from Húsavík (pop. 2500), in the northern part of Iceland. The members are all 18 years old but had been playing together for several years when they decided to call the band Tony the Pony. They decided to put more effort into the songmaking and spent endless hours in the garage. Under their new name the band signed up for Músiktilraunir 2004 and ended up in third place. In December 2004 the band released their first album entitled “Ípí” (the Icelandic spelling for EP). It included six songs and got fine reviews. Tony the Pony played at Airwaves for the first time last year and made a promo CD that got four stars out of five in Morgunbladid. Now, Tony the Pony are rehearsing and writing songs for their upcoming CD, which will be released soon. They have already released a single from the album early in 2006 – "Army Of The Sun" – which was very popular with XFM (where it got into the top 10) and on X-id 977, where they made it up to third place.
