The Icelandic Chamber Music Festival creates a platform for young musicians to perform concerts and take ambitious courses in music and music-related areas.
Since 2008 a large number of Icelandic and international artists have appeared at the festival and a myriad of young musicians have participated from all over the world, including South Africa, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Europe and the United States. The festival is now the second largest annual event for classical music in Iceland.
Since the beginning, we have sought to tailor courses to meet the needs of participants. All participants take part in a group project which involves practicing a piece in a short time and performing it at the end of the festival. Such cooperation is both challenging and fun and can have a tremendous incentive for music education.
