Iceland Hits Danube!

A veritable truckload of Icelandic Musicians are heading to Austria's Donau Festival between 29th April - 8th May 2010. For the installation-like performance-space of the exhibition, Franz Graf and Franz Pomassl have been invited to contribute their long-time collaboration with Icelandic sound and performance artists in the form of an open, concentrated collaboration.

Ólafur Arnalds: New Album & Tour Dates!

Ólafur Arnalds is to release his second full length album in May 2010. The album has the working title "...and they have escaped the weight of darkness". Those expecting a mere continuation of the melancholia of his previous album may be in for a surprise, says Arnalds, who describes the new record as the most "uplifting and richly orchestrated work so far, largely thanks to my co-producer, Barði Jóhannsson."

Icelandic Music Awards Winners!

The Winners of this year's Icelandic Music Awards (Íslensku Tónlistarverðlaunin) were announced Saturday, March 13th.
The awards took place at the Reykjavík Opera House. As well as the usual categories, this year's IMA's also included awards for Most Popular Artist (decided by the public via internet and telephone voting); the most Effective Internet Presence (presented by tonlist.is); the Reykjavik Loftbrú, a special grant consisting of travel funds towards music export; and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Following their move to America, colourful electronic subversives Steed Lord have been making the kind of splash we hoped they would, recently inking a deal with AM Only and signing with Kosher management, who say we can "expect to see a major impact from Steed Lord in the coming year. They won't let anything get in their way. They have made lots of progress and growth since their big move to Los Angeles. They are very hungry and are working very hard out here."

Feldberg On Kitsune Maison Compilation!

Promising new Icelandic electronic act Feldberg have had their single, Dreaming, signed to a compilation put out by hot French label Kitsune. The comp, called simply Kitsune Maison Compilation 9, will be released in April and features tracks by artists like Washed Out, Holy Ghost! and Jupiter amongst others.

Seabear Head To North America!

Lovable pop troupe Seabear are about to release their second album, We Built a Fire in North America (already out on iTunes worldwide). To celebrate they are heading out on their very first North American tour. Starting at SXSW in mid-March, they'll be playing New York City dates at the Mercury Lounge and Southpaw as well as shows in Chicago, Washington and Montreal.

Ólöf Arnalds: Debut UK Show And SXSW Dates!

As the finishing touches are being put to Ólöf Arnald's’ second album, the singer songwriter has announded SXSW show dates as well as her very first UK appearance, with a low-key gig at Café Oto on 15th April. Ólöf recently finished mixing her second album, Innundir Skinni at Sundlaugin Studios with Kjartan Sveinsson (Sigur Rós) producing once again.
