Artist-2-Artist #1 :: Futuregrapher & Sóley Interview
September 9th, 2015 | In The Spotlight
Welcome, Dear Reader to a new series we have created, for your reading pleasure that focuses on the artists themselves. Their thoughts and feelings about life, the universe and everything in-between!
However, instead of us asking them silly, tired or cliché questions that they have heard a million times, we are asking their fellow artist cohorts to ask the big, important questions.
This is an opportunity to glimpse into the minds of the interviewees as well as the interviewers. This series, will, hopefully deliver some delicious morsels of fascinating tidbits into the lives of our most loved and creative music makers.
F: Do you own a drum machine? If not, WHY? If yes, what machine do you own? And what drum machine is your favorite one?
S: NOOO unfortunately i don’t own i drum machine! Probably because I own a loop machine that I sometimes make very unprofessional beat boxing on hoping that one day I’ll be so good that i sound like a drum set!
F: Have you bought an album by the German Euro-trance band Scooter (be honest!)?
S: No and I’ll tell you why: Scooter once gave my old folk party band Seabear a VERY bad review in some magazine. We were all so sad when we read that review but then we remembered his music and smiled again. Afterwards I’m kinda happy that he didn’t like us!
F: Have you ever been high and listened to Boards of Canada?
S: No but always when i listened to Boards of Canada I felt there was something missing in that moment… now I know what I was missing!
F: Do you think there will be war between the machines and the people – not far from the storyline in the Terminator?
S: I think that we, people, will kill ourselves and destroy the planet before machines can reach us.
F: What’s your favorite book. And WHY?
S: I’m gonna say what pops into my head right now uhhh Afleggjarinn by Auður Ava. It’s so beautiful and I love Auður Ava!
F: I saw a picture of you when #freethenipple was going viral on twitter – and there you mentioned being a mother. Do you have many children? How’s motherhood?
S: I have one daughter. She is 1 1/2 years old and she is the most perfect living being on earth. Motherhood is totally amazing. I’m like: “Why did i not appreciate my mother more for all that she has done for me and she carried me for 9 months and she gave bloody birth to me!!” So be good to your moms (and dads…) 🙂
F: Do you like Phil Collins?
S: I have to say that he’s not on my top 10 list of favorite artists. maybe on like top 50. or top 100. I don’t know why but i get this weird feeling in my stomach when i hear his songs, like I remember him being played on the radio when I was a kid. He’s probably still being played at Bylgjan though!
F: If every country in the world had a mascot, would ours be the Puffin?
F: What’s behind space?
S: OMG it’s total darkness and silence. I get very scared when i think of that so now I’m going to think about something else.
F: Star Trek or Twin Peaks?
S: TWIN PEAKS!!!
F: Are your fans creepy?
S: Some are. Not creepy. But. You know…
F: Why don’t you release any techno albums?
S: Ask Scooter!
F: Don’t you think it’s funny that we exist only now?
S: I think about it every single day…
F: What do you think when you see a person eat a banana?
S: Bananas in pajamas?
