Because you can never have too much of a good thing, we are back on the band-wagon for our Artist-2-Artist series. Coming at you with our #9 edition, we have those rascals from Epic Rain who have a brand new album dropping at the end of September asking Mr Disco beard himself, the wonderful Berndsen, who, according to David Berndsen is releasing new material close to Christmas time, we can’t wait!
Epic Rain: What Is Your Favourite Piece Of Studio Gear And Why?
Berndsen: Roland Jupiter 6 because sometimes it sounds so beautiful that I burst into to tears.
Epic Rain: What Comes First Music Or The Lyrics?
Berndsen: Sometimes when I am out for a walk, I just start to sing some random lyrics then I go
to the studio and try to work with that, Or just playing around on the guitar or piano
and compose lyrics afterwards. It all depends on the mood.
Epic Rain: Are You Currently Working On Any Other Projects The Berndsen?
Berndsen: Sometimes when I get tired from working on the Berndsen project I look into my Alter Ego – “Franco Wonder” for some techno experimental music. Its just fun to make all sorts of music but it can be hard to label it for a specific project so I should perhaps have more Alter Egos, and a fun fact my upcoming albummis called Alter Ego which I am exploring that concept deeper.
Epic Rain: Any Interesting Bands You Have Discovered Lately?
Berndsen: Always trying to find something, The best thing you can do is go to Lucky Records and
ask around for new exciting things, my recent discovery is Kirin j Callinan from Australia,
I have serious man crush for that man! Timber Timbre is also a great band, Alex Cameron and
Icelandic stuff I am very excited for a new project called sillus.
Epic Rain: What Is The Best Music Festival You Have Played At?
Berndsen: Uff its hard to pick, But I really liked playing in Turku for H2o festival. Gotta love
the Finish people.
Epic Rain: What Is Your Favourite Movie?
Berndsen: My all time favourite film is Heat 1995 directed by Michael Mann.
I love how it looks, the music is superb!
Epic Rain: Can You Name The 3 Most Influential Albums For You And Why?
Berndsen: Duran Duran’s first album, David Bowie – Low, Japan – Gentlemen Take Polaroids.
Probably because all of them are very synth based and experimental, love it!
Epic Rain: What Is Your Favourite City?
Berndsen: Porto – Portugal. I used to live there for a bit and really liked it, but also Berlin ahh
hard to pick, better kebabs in Berlin..So probably Berlin, ah but also the francesinha in Porto ahhh.
I will say both.
Epic Rain: Is There Anything That You’re Really Scared Of?
Epic Rain: What Is The Secret Behind Your Beautiful Beard?
Berndsen: Ask Zakk Wylde for the secret for the beautiful beards. He has the answer for that!
