Iceland Airwaves to expand as it announces additional lineup for 2017

Sigrid, Michael Kiwanuka, Songhoy Blues, Nilüfer Yanya + many more added to Iceland Airwaves
Renowned for showcasing the best of Icelandic talent alongside the biggest and most interesting new international names in music – Iceland Airwaves have announced their latest additions for the November 2017 festival. The new international names include Sigrid, Michael Kiwanuka, Songhoy Blues and many others. These impressive new additions join the likes of Àsgeir, Billy Bragg, Emiliana Torrini & The Colorist, JFDR, Kelly Lee Owens, Björk’s old band Tappi Tíkarrass, legendary heavy hitters HAM and the fractured sounds of Mammùt for the feted Reykjavik festival.
The Reykjavík festival expands to a second site in Akureyri in Northern Iceland.
In very exciting news for this years event Iceland Airwaves is going to be happening across two cities. Akureyri in Northern Iceland is over 4 hours drive from the Reykjavik although you can also fly from the capital or from Keflavík. The Akureyri dates of the festival 2nd – 3rd November will feature 25 artists from the Reykjavík line-up including Ásgeir – complete with plenty of Off Venue bands too.
You can buy a ticket for the whole five day Reykjavík festival (21.900 ISK) or the two day Akureyri festival (8,900 ISK), or even do a combination of the two, attending 2nd – 3rd November at Akureyri then flying to Reykjavík for the 4th – 5th November (15,900 ISK).
How to get tickets for Fleet Foxes and Ásgeir at Iceland Airwaves.
I’m sure there will be enough time to remind you between now and then but Fleet Foxes will be playing Iceland Airwaves on Friday 3rd November and Saturday 4th November, with both shows being at the Eldborg, Harpa. Friday tickets can be bought separately via tix.is and harpa.is. Saturday tickets will handed out that day at the Iceland Airwaves Media Center from 3pm for Iceland Airwaves ticket holders on a first come, first served basis.
Ásgeir is set to play an exclusive show at Eldborg, Harpa at this year’s festival, rounding off what is set to be an even bigger year for the Icelandic sensation. Tickets for the Eldborg show will be allocated on a first come, first served basis from the venue on the day of the show. Ásgeir will play Eldborg on the 1st of November and Hof in Akureyri on the 3rd of November.
