Reptilicus :: Release Music For Tectonics
October 14th, 2015 | IMX Inside Iceland
Reptilicus is a two-man experimental electronic duo who have been active for two decades and release thought provoking collaborative material.
Taking its cue from the intricacies of industrial electronica, the creativity of krautrock and Dada, Reptilicus have issued a number of releases on tape, vinyl, anti-vinyl and CD where experiments, noise, percussion, 8mm and wind instruments fuse in an electronic crucible.
Their latest release through the EMF, Electronic Music Foundation. The CD is the result of Reptilicus’ participation in the Tectonics festival in Reykjavik, organised by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and curated by conductor Ilan Volkov.
Reptilicus did various recordings of performances, rehearsals and the environment at the festival which became the basis of their own performance. In the wake of Tectonics, Reptilicus put new pieces together, manipulating and adding to the raw material collected. Among the material used (with permisson) are recordings of the works of Christian Wolff and Pauline Oliveros.
