August 4th, 2017 | News
We are terribly excited to let you know, dear music lovers that there is a new magazine about to be launched by the name of Reykjavík On Stage. Celebrating the fascinating, weird and wonderful aspects of the Icelandic music scene all in one handy sized magazine.
The first issue of Reykjavík On Stage quarterly magazine explores the diversity of Icelandic musicians with their cover story celebrating Árstíðir’s musician Ragnar Ólafsson, an interview with the legendary Biggi Hilmars and Reykjavík based Heiðrik. They are also covering musicians involved in organising, managing and promoting music such as Snorri Helgason and Futuregrapher.
The magazine tackles current social topics such as empowering young female musicians through girl rock camps (Stelpur Rokka) and delves into the history of Icelandic music with articles about legendary 90s band Unun and Retro Stefson that have been extremely influential within the Iocal music scene over the past 10 years.
Gloriously displayed across 78 non-glossy pages of A4 size, this is a must have for Icelandic music enthusiasts. It makes Reykjavík On Stage rather a souvenir or a little book of the Icelandic music scene than just a regular music magazine. Printed copies are currently available in record stores in Reykjavík. Moreover, it’s easy to order the magazine or get a subscription through the website with worldwide shipping.
