Sleepless In Reykjavík Starts New Season
August 16th, 2011 | News
Good news for fans of Icelandic Music and TV: the new season of Sleepless in Reykjavik has begun. The series now features Eydís Eir Björnsdóttir as co-host and is supported by the Kraumur Music fund thanks to the success of the series last year. Other new additions to the personnel are Bowen Staines from Don’t Panic films, who according to SiR founder and director Gunnar B. Guðbjörnsson "serves as a kind of travel correspontant when he’s in Iceland" – and Donald Gíslasson, who has a PHD in musicology "and, being bilingual, is taking care of subtitles". The series consists so far of four episodes: this year’s season will be shorter for each episode but there will be more frequent posts.
SiR will also be working with a new website called Icelandtravelblog.net, who are aiming to be the go-to source of information for travelers to Iceland and the show was recently added to NovaTV in Iceland – the only music television station in the country, who plays the show twice daily (at 12 noon and 8pm). There’s also now an online store and you can like the project on Facebook too. You can watch the latest episode here, which features Vicky and Apparat Organ Quartet among others…
