Helgi Jónsson & Ragga Gröndal On Tour!
The mighty Norðrið returns this month as Helgi Jónsson and Ragga Gröndal hit the road together and visit Austria, Germany and Switzerland between the 24th and 29th November. Both Helgi and Ragga are formidable artists with their own distinctive styles; the blend of Helgi's emotive songwriting and Ragga's enchanting folk and pop vibes is sure to be a mesmerising combination. Bloodgroup Play Next JA JA JA
Electronic renegades Bloodgroup are to play the next edition of London's JA JA JA, a brand new platform for Nordic music in London. JA JA JA got underway last week with a stellar line up that included Iceland's very own Kira Kira, Finland's TV Off, Sweden's Francis and Norway's I Was A King.
3 Icelandic Bands Confirmed For By:Larm
The organisers of the fantastic Norwegian music festival By:Larm has recently announced the first 15 bands from outside Norway that will be playing the 2010 edition in February next year. Of those 15 (full list below), no less than three are Icelandic: Kira Kira, Hafdis Huld and For A Minor Reflection. Anyone who knows these acts will appreciate what a savvy selection the folk at By:Larm have made since they are all completely different sonically (check out their MySpaces, via their IMX profiles, to hear everything from quirky experimentalism, post-rock and pop) yet wonderfully complimentary.

Yohanna On Swedish Television
Eurovision Song Contest runner up Yohanna - who achieved 2nd place in the 2009 ESC contest - will perform at the annual Swedish Christmas gala Julgalan in Stockholm, which takes place across various dates in December. The concerts will take place in the Globen Arena and will also feature other pop artists such as Kate Ryan, Alcazar, EMD, Markoolio, E-type and Linda Bengtzing. Yohanna will appear at Julgalan 2009 across several dates, including 3rd-5th, 10th-12th and the 18th-19th.

Two New Trad Music Releases
Calling all Icelandic traditional music fans! The Iceland Music Information Centre (ITM) are to publish two new CDs this year. The first features 19 solo songs by Jórunn Viðar, Iceland´s first female composer who turned ninety in 2008. This CD contains artsongs as well as folksongs arrangements performed by Helga Rós Indriðadóttir soprano with pianist Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir.
