Iceland Heads To Midem!
MidemIceland and the Faroe Islands will be represented by five companies at this year's Midem conference, which takes place in Cannes, France, between 24th-27th January, 2010. The companies range from our very own Iceland Music Export to "Fair Play In Music" portal gogoyoko, STEF (Performing Rights Society of Iceland), veteran record label Smekkleysa (Bad Taste)...

Hear Iceland At Eurosonic 2010!
FM BelfastIcelandic artists are by now a regular feature at Eurosonic in Groningen, The Netherlands - and this year is no exception. The event, which this year takes place between 14th and 16th January, 2010, will feature live sets from three of the country's most buzzing bands, namely the explosive Agent Fresco, the magnificent Seabear and the incredibly fun FM Belfast. Mugison Tour in February!
MugisonItinerant musical maverick Mugison will be on tour again next month. The mastermind behind esteemed albums such as Mugimama Is This Monkey Music? and 2007's tour de force MugiBoogie, will hit the road in mid-February, taking his raw, bluesy rock & roll to France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland and the UK. Hafdís Huld: Special Talent Showcase at Midem!
Hafdís HuldFormer Gus Gus member Hafdís Huld has been selected as one of the most promising upcoming international talents by a panel at the major music industry conference MIDEM. Hafdís will be performing an official showcase as part of MIDEM Talent in Cannes on Sunday 24th January at the Salon Zephyr, Carlton Hotel. MIDEM is the world’s biggest music industry conference, attracting international delegates from as far away as the USA, Asia and Australia and takes place each year in the south of France.

Aldrei Fór Ég Suður Confirmed For 2010!
Aldrei Fór Ég SuðurThe organisers of Iceland's most inspired and remote music event, Aldrei fór ég suður (the name means "I Never Went South") have confirmed it will be going ahead once again this year. Founded by national megastar Mugison and his father (Papamugs), the event has been a resounding success since it began in 2003.
 

Melodia On Gramophone's Best Of 2009 List!
Melodia The Carmina Chamber Choir's album Melodia has been named one of the best classical albums of the year 2009 by Gramophone, Reykjavik's Grapevine newspaper have reported. Melodia, released on long-established Icelandic label Smekkleysa, won the Editor's Choice award for November 2009, and is now in 23rd place as one of the year's best.

Formed early in 2001, Leaves began when Arnar Guðjónsson and Hallur Már Hallsson rented a house in downtown Reykjavík. They were joined by old friends Arnar Ólafsson (guitar, vocals), Andri Ásgrímsson (keys) and Bjarni Grímsson (drums) and settled on Leaves as a band name - a reference to Five Leaves Left, the first album of English folk legend Nick Drake...
