Catch Some Great Icelandic Music At Jónsvaka!
Jónsvaka / Midsummer Festival – a brand new festival platform for Icelandic Art – will pop its cherry in Reykjavík’s centre from the 24th – 27th of June, 2010. The name derives from John the Baptist’s birthday, which has been celebrated on this longest-lasting day of summer for centuries, but the usual day and night festivities make up John’s Wake (which literally translates as Jónsvaka).

Ólafur Arnalds & RNCM Join Hands!
Ólafur Arnalds is to share a bill with the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) for a special event at Manchester's The Bridgewater Hall, on Thursday July 1st, 2010. The RNCM will present a night of avant-garde experimentalism conducted by André de Ridder (who led the première performances of Damon Albarn’s highly successful Monkey: Journey to the West for the Manchester International Festival).

Sunna Gunnlaugs Makes The Dream Come True!
Sunna Gunnlaugs has launched a fundraising appeal at Kickstarter to raise cash for her new album. In return for giving cash towards the project, donors benefit from a bunch of different prizes, including advance copies of the CD, song cover commissions on YouTube and an iPod Nano.

Hafdís Huld Unleashes New Single!
Hafdís Huld's latest single, "Action Man" was released recently. The single has seen solid support on UK radio - Radio 2, 6Music - and was the Sunday Times Culture section's "download of the week" in a recent issue.

Myrká - 13 Myrká released its debut album earlier this month, marking a huge stage in the career of multi-talented band members Guðný Lára, Stefán, Guðjón and Helgi, who hail from Akureyri, Iceland. The album, titled '13', consists of thirteen original songs, each providing a combination of high-energy guitar playing, powerful Hammond organ, melodious vocals and dramatic lyrics along with great metal-drums.

Iceblah - The Blog That Thinks It's Icelandic Meet Mark Ollard, one of the world’s several dedicated Iceland music obsessives. Mark first ventured to Iceland in 1988 - the year The Sugarcubes released their debut album Life's Too Good. In other words, he was here before most. His love affair has not only continued over the years but recently morphed into a dedicated music blog.
