The rather psychedelic new pop project by Kjartan Olafsson, previously of acclaimed band, Ampop.

The debut album by Kjarr (out in Iceland in 2011) was recorded over the course of three years (in Reykjavik, Hafnarfjörður and Glasgow). Kjartan handles most duties; singing, piano, guitars, theremin, omnichords and other oddities while being backed by the very firm musicianship of Leaves frontman, Arnar Guðjónsson (bass, electric guitar) and Leaves drummer, Nói Steinn Einarsson. Also Baldvin Ringsted (a.k.a. Bela) contributes some very jazzy guitarwork to a couple of tracks on the album.

Kristjón Daðason layers trumpet on several tracks and Ragnar Fjölnisson joins in with a wall of accordions on Quantum leap.

The sound of Kjarr has been described as saturated, psychedelic pop, recalling such bands as High Llamas and Beach Boys,  while being hailed on U.K. Radio by the likes of Vic Galloway and Jim Gellatly.
