The Blue Church Sessions :: Marteinn Sindri
August 21st, 2017 | IMX Inside Iceland
Welcome to the IMX/LungA Blue Church Sessions! We are so proud and excited to have been working on this summer series for you. We teamed up with LungA Art Festival to round up some super cool artists to perform some incredibly intimate live sessions for your enjoyment.
During the magical LungA Festival that takes place in the beautiful town of Seyðisfjörður, IMX cajoled some of the talented musicians that were floating around town into being recorded in the stunning blue church of the town.
Welcome to Marteinn Sindri‘s session.
With a broad background in music, Marteinn Sindri delivers rich lyrics through tightly knit folk oriented compositions. 28 years old, Marteinn lives with his small family in the town of Hafnarfjörður in Iceland.
Having trained as an academic philosopher and a classical pianist, well versed both in jazz music and pop he prepares his first EP, comprised of individual songs, released one by one in the year 2017.
The first song, ‘Spring Comes Late Sometimes‘, was released in April this year.
“Marteinn’s compositions are minimal and magical, he looks to the roots of folk-music and hymns and influences from the British singer/songwriter Nick Drake are discernible, as well as some of Drake’s American counterparts in both recent and remote past. Marteinn Sindri writes his texts with a personal voice, in both English and Icelandic and harvests a broad field of inspiration. His compositions are sincere and his performances are supported by exceptional musicians.” – Jónatan Garðarson
Watch out for this soulful folk singer, his star is rising.
We’ll be releasing further Blue Church sessions each month…
