Guðnason Sets Poetry In Musical Motion
November 3rd, 2011 | News
Icelandic musician Óskar Guðnason has released an album entitled ‘To The Night’ – a work which sets to music ten poems from the popular Icelandic language poetry book ‘Letter To The Night’ by Kristín Jónsdóttir.
The book, published in November 2009, was praised for its strong, emotional connection to the nature of Iceland, and Guðnason, an artist from Höfn, Hornafjörður, was inspired by the work to create his own musical accompaniment to it.
‘To The Night’ features the vocals of Unnur Birna Björnsdottir and Arnar Jónsson, and the instrumentalists on the release include Þórir Úlfarrsson, Hafþór S. Guðmundsson, Pálmi Gunnarrsson, Óskar Guðjónsson and Þorsteinn Magnússon.
The album features the ten featured poems in the CD sleevenotes, and it is available in Icelandic record stores, or can be ordered direct from oskargold@hotmail.com.
