Icelandic Bands :: Reveal New Years Resolutions

Icelandic Bands :: Reveal New Years Resolutions

January 20th, 2016 | IMX Inside Iceland

It’s always good to find out what bands are planning for the year ahead so you can keep tabs on them/get excited for imminent releases and such. You know what is even more more fun? Finding out their New Years Resolutions. Join us on a journey as we trawl the depths of our local hero’s brains to see what they are planning on achieving for their 2016. Get in now on the YOLF vibe and read on dear reader…

FM Belfast (Lóa) : My resolution is to make 2016 the Year of Living Fabulously (YOLF for short), this involves a lot of eyeliner and possibly dying my troll mop and comb it on a regular basis.

I’m excited about making a new FM Belfast album, we’ve already made a few tracks and I’m happy about them. The new Hulli cartoon series are being premiered this year and I’m graduating from HÍ so people can officially start to call me Master in June.
We did a video interview with Lóa Over Airwaves, check it out:

Vök (Andri) :  We are so happy with 2015, it was one of the best years we’ve had and we cant wait to see where 2016 takes us! Our resolution is simply to do better this year than the last! Although my personal new years resolution every year is simply to remember to write the correct year! But every year I end up for the first few months writing the previous years date!

Pink Street Boys:
Stop using condoms
Go back to Holland
Start drinking pilsner instead of beer
Record a new album before March
Record a new video by tomorrow
Stop eating vegetables
Grow up
Get a girlfriend
Listen to the new David Bowie album, cos he´s dead
Carry on touring around the world
Buy a tour bus ready for our European tour in March…a proper one like Guns N’Roses!
Go to Kuala Lumpur, meet nice local people
Feed the homeless
Get a haircut
Listen to more music…the good shit, not the bad shit
Stop having sick thoughts
Stop asking our manager for beer
Get good grades
Stay alive
Pink Street Boys just got back from a blistering set of shows in Eurosonic. Expect more depravity and rollicking good times from them this year.

Sin Fang: My new years resolution is to drink more and work less. Plans for 2016 is a new sin fang LP and EP, gangly songs and some remixes.
I’d also to gain like 7-8 kilos in pure muscle mass and finally start my acting career.
We did a video interview with Sindri Over Airwaves, check it out:

SYKUR: Always greet everyone with a hug and dance more.
We also have a new single coming out in February, so watch out for that!

In The Company Of Men: Our resolutions for 2016 is to finally release more material, both more music videos and our LP album that we recorded last summer, and to play more outside of Iceland.
Check their BRAND OUT NEW VIDEO for new single ‘Nothing Left’

Bang Gang / Starwalker: In 2016 I am planning to release at least 3 albums with different music styles. Also I started growing potatoes in the summer of 2015 and I am excited to add some veggies to that new fetish. Also going to go to LA for work and friends, been promising that for a long time.
Starwalker have a new single out and also got some love on Pitchfork this week!

Futuregrapher: My new years resolutions this year, like every year, is to be a better father – and a better person. I will try to focus on that. Be a better teacher to my child – and try to be a nicer human to other aliens. And take more naps.

I am excited for new music and new collaborations! I just finished an album with the Irish ambient / electronica producer Mick Chillage and I’m also working on new Royal music with my lover Borko and me and Jón Ólafsson will create another ambient feel-good album this year. And there is more. And Sónar is in february – that is exciting.

Kúra: 2016 is a year for us where we focus strongly on making new music and videos. Last year was really creative and we made a lot of stuff we both love and want to record and finish properly. Brynjar just moved to South of Spain, so we will do all our new stuff in his house in the country side next to the mountains and amazing landspaces. A bit hotter and more exotic experience than we have had before in the cold north! We are also very fortunate to play a couple of festivals around europe this summer including Secret Solstice in Reykjavík. All in all we are very exited about 2016!
They are playing this summer’s Secret Solstice Festival, but you can check their latest video below which features Zebra Katz

WESEN: Our new years resolutions are the following wholesome and sensible three: #1 release our first LP! #2 Start writing for our 2nd album and #3 Take our live sets further, incorporating more songs and elements…!
Besides the music stuff we’ll also be focusing on lots of home improvement in 2016, and looking to double our amount of pets (I had 2 at the end of 2015, now I’ve got 3 and am nearing the 4th)
Wesen have just signed a fancy new record deal with UK’s Hidden Trail Records. Expect to see/hear a lot more from them in 2016

Kira Kira: On a spiritual level it is to make joy my absolute compass in everything I do and to sharpen my intuition towards how I can be of service within music and in the community in general. I just want to do my best to make every day life an inspired fun loving experience for everyone around me as well as myself. 2016 will be all about music and love. I have a lockout mix session in an old wooden church in the countryside coming up where I hope to bring my 4th LP closer to home.

After that I am working on my new film for a couple of weeks before taking off to Los Angeles where I am finishing a collab album with my friend Eskmo. Oh and I will premiere 2 new compositions for orchestra and choir at the Tectonics Festival. Other than that I’m singing with my choir in Mengi once a week and plotting all kinds of little friendly collaborations here and there.
