All right, listen up techno heads. I know people deep into this genre will probably all ready know this stuff, but for you n00bs out there looking to dip your toes into the land of ice-hot techno, this is for you. Icelandic techno right now is all so terribly on-point. Bjarki is basically the boss with a bunch of other whippersnappers chomping at the bit all ready to show you their techno techniques.
We picked a few key tracks, plus one whole album, because, why not, for you to get your head around. Rave on friends. Let it all hang out.
Ohm vs Octal Industries have released a teaser for their Snotra EP (12″) which is coming out on RAWAX records.
DJ and producer Ohm is one of the leading figures in the Icelandic contemporary techno scene. Widely associated with iconic labels such as Thule Records and Force Inc, Ohm stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of techno music, integrating soul and innovation with the scene.
Octal Industries is a collaboration of two experienced cannons in the electronic music scene – Michael Sickinger from the United States and Jonas Thor Gudmundsson.
Exos just released an epically brooding track called ‘Hverfult’ which was recently premiered in DJ Mag.
Exos is one of the most experienced and respected artists within the circuit of techno and dub techno in Iceland. Active since 1997, he has released three albums and more than twenty singles on labels like Mosaic and Thule Records also has collaborated with Nina Kraviz and joined her label трип (Trip) in 2015. трип is an idiosyncratic electronic music label, amongst other things it is known for its label launch parties. The first трип took place in a cave in Iceland in May 2015. Recently has been released his last single on Thule Records with which made his international tour called ‘Downgarden’ through South/North America, Europe, Arab United Emirates and Africa.
Biogen recently released a full LP on the infamous трип (Trip) Record label.
His LP named Halogen Continues is a mixture of rare and unreleased material. Halogen Continues, compiled by Nina Kraviz with help from Ruxpin, who gave her access to his archives, collects rare and unreleased material, some of which was first unearthed last year for digital-only Bandcamp releases.
“I picked the most idiosyncratic cuts that show his creative approach most brightly,”Kraviz says.
The album will be followed by a compilation of Þórgrímsson’s ambient and experimental music on GALAXIID later in 2017.

Just for kicks we are finishing up with a track that isn’t necessarily techno, but, who likes rules anyway? Plus we are in PRIDE season, so feels super appropriate. May we present you you ‘Walk Away’… BistroBoy has got all cosy with the Icelandic living disco legend that is Páll Óskar. A perfectly delicious track that plays on ambient electronic vibes whilst showcasing Páll’s strong soulful vocals. Feels like it should belong on the beach at sundown in Ibiza. Summer is well and truly in full swing!
