Night-Time Economy: What Happens After Dark, Stays in the Dark
Presented by .Haus

Where: Mengi, Óðinsgata 2, 101 Reykjavík
When: Tuesday, Nov 3rd @ 12.00–13.30

Night-time is when a huge part of Reykjavík’s cultural and social life takes place: music, venues, restaurants, clubs, events, creative work and more. Yet the people who keep the night running often have few opportunities to connect with each other, or to have their experiences represented in conversations with policymakers and city authorities.

This panel brings together a small group of night-time stakeholders to share their experiences of working after dark: what’s working, what’s difficult and what’s missing from Reykjavík’s night-time ecosystem. With the traditional night-time economy struggling, it raises the question of how we can find new ways to express ourselves and socialise, and how solidarity might give rise to new forms of nightlife.

Rather than presenting a finished solution, the panel asks: does Reykjavík need a platform to bridge this gap? And what could a local night advocacy group look like?

The goal is to start a conversation, and maybe bring together the people who could build something together.

Refreshments will be provided.
