Feedback – A Crash Course in Music Journalism

No items found.

Do you find yourself compelled to put your musical experience into words and publish them for all the world to see? If so, read on:

After a successful pilot run at last years’ Iceland Airwaves, where a couple of the participants found themselves pursuing a new career in music journalism, Feedback returns for its second edition. The project, which is presented by Bransaveisla and The Reykjavik Grapevine, in collaboration with Iceland Airwaves, offers young aspiring writers a crash course in music journalism.

Feedback launches with a music journalism workshop at the new Grapevine offices at Hafnarstræti 8, on Monday, Nov 2, at 17:00. Participants will then review Iceland Airwaves (November 5–7) for The Reykjavík Grapevine alongside a team of regular contributors to the paper. They will have access to the magazine’s offices and editorial team throughout the festival and will be invited to attend events where they will get the opportunity to meet, mingle and learn from the international press delegation attending the festival.

Successful applicants will receive press passes to the festival, get compensated for their contributions and have their coverage of the festival published on Grapevine’s website. They’ll also receive guidance from Grapevine editors and international music journalists throughout the festival - helping them refine and develop their voice and gain one of a kind insight into the world of music journalism.

Who can apply:

‍
We’re looking for curious and enthusiastic writers with strong English skills and genuine passion for live music. You don’t need prior journalism experience,  just initiative and hunger to express a fresh perspective.

Applicants should attach a short piece of writing that demonstrates their tone and style. This could be anything from a gig reflection to a short article or opinion piece. Goes without saying that Feedback will not accept AI writing.

Whether you’re a first-time reviewer or a secret music obsessive, Feedback offers a unique opportunity to learn from the best, get published by a leading cultural magazine and get some pocket money for your troubles!

Deadline for applications is Thursday 29th of October
