Annual Report and New Board

21 May 2026

A new board was elected at Iceland Music’s annual general meeting on April 29th. Representatives from the founding organisations—STEF, FÍH, FHF, TÍ, and KT—will continue their tenure. Additionally, the Minister of Culture, Innovation and Higher Education has appointed Óttarr Proppé, musician and specialist at the Ministry of Health, and Eva Hrund Einarsdóttir, Managing Director of the Akureyri Cultural Company, as the ministry's representatives. Óttarr succeeds Einar Bárðarson as Chairman of the Board, and Eva Hrund takes over from Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir. We extend our sincere thanks to Einar and Sólrún for their dedication and excellent collaboration during Iceland Music's foundational and formative years and warmly welcome Óttarr and Eva Hrund to the team.

Home of Icelandic Music

At the meeting, María Rut Reynisdóttir, Managing Director of Tónlistarmiðstöð, presented the annual report for the past year. In 2025, Tónlistarmiðstöð established itself as the home of Icelandic music. We look back on these achievements with pride and look forward to building further upon this foundation.

Our work reached far, both at home and on the international stage:

  • International Collaboration: We participated in 22 international events across 13 countries. Well over a hundred participants—musicians and industry professionals alike—represented our community.
  • Education and Networking: Over 30 educational and networking events were held throughout the year, with Tónlistarmiðstöð hosting an average of one event per month for external partners.
  • Domestic Support: The center collaborated closely with five domestic music festivals, all of which play a vital role in the country’s cultural landscape.
