Tonight marks the opening of Reykjavík Jazz 2026, the mardi gras of the Icelandic Jazz scene, with a concert at Fantasía on Austurstræti. Performing there are Sölvi Kolbeinsson's Trio, Birgir Steinn Theodórsson & Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir, and Andrés Þór Trio.
The festival has been held since 1990, making it one of the country's oldest music festivals. It keeps growing in scope, and this year's program is the most ambitious yet, offering over 30 events at 14 venues across Reykjavík and at Þingvellir.
Most of the festival program takes place in Harpa's Norðurljós Hall, but there will also be concerts at Fríkirkjan, Hótel Holt, Jómfrúin, Vesturbæjarlaug, Iðnó, Austurbæjarbíó, and more.
The program and tickets can be found on the festival's website.
Gleðilega Jazzhátíð!
